Flavor Finder Specialty Coffee Game | Coffee Tasting Game for Home
Eight words. One cup. Find out what you're actually tasting.
The Flavor Finder is a coffee tasting game that turns your morning brew into something you pay attention to. Sip, circle what you taste, write a note. That's the whole game.
Eight categories on the wheel: fruity, floral, spices, sour, sweet, cocoa, roasted, nutty. No obscure descriptors, no 110-spoke diagram, no pretending you detect "white peach and jasmine" when what you mean is this one tastes like fruit. You circle what you taste in plain English, and after a few cups you start noticing things you walked right past before.
That's the actual trick to tasting coffee, by the way. Not a better palate — a shorter list. Most people can tell cocoa from citrus immediately. What stops them is being handed a wheel with a hundred words on it and feeling like they're failing a test. Give someone eight options and they get it right away.
Sour is on there on purpose. Half of learning what you like is learning what you don't, and being able to point at a cup and say that one's sour, not sweet is how you stop buying bags that disappoint you.
How to Play
Brew two or three coffees. Everyone gets a card. Taste, circle, compare.
The arguments are the fun part — one person swears it's nutty, someone else is certain it's cocoa, and you're both partly right. Use the notes section to track what you thought so you can look back after a few rounds and see your palate sharpening in real time.
Works just as well solo with your morning cup, one coffee at a time.
Why You'll Love It
You learn to taste coffee without anyone making you feel dumb about it.
- No flavor wheel homework.
- No tasting vocabulary to memorize.
- No special equipment, scales, or gear.
- No wrong answers.
Just a card, a cup, and the thing nobody tells you — that tasting coffee is a skill you pick up by paying attention, not by studying.
Great For
- Coffee tastings with friends
- Game nights and parties
- Getting kids involved in something at the breakfast table
- Comparing two bags side by side
- Figuring out what you actually like before your next order
The Details
- Format: Printed Card
- Included free: One card with every roast-to-order purchase
- Need more? Just order as many as you want
Fair warning on the results: in a blind comparison the fresher coffee usually wins, and the roast date on the bag tends to explain why. Not my fault. That's just how it goes.
