You're simple, unique, and proper. Drink from a glass that matches your style!
Tired Hands Brewing Company is located in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Tired Hand's brewing practices are inspired by French and Belgian farmhouse brewers, but they focus heavily on American beer styles, too. Today, we are providing our thoughts on their Strawberry Milkshake IPA, which is an American Culinary IPA brewed and dry-hopped with Mosaic and Citra hops. The brewers add lactose and condition the beer on top of strawberries and vanilla beans. Tired Hands produces several variants of their milkshake IPA throughout the year in collaboration with Omnipollo.
(As a side note, we consumed/reviewed this milkshake IPA several months ago, but we weren't able to fit it into the blog schedule until this week.)
Appearance:
The Strawberry Milkshake IPA poured a murky bright yellow color and sported a thin white head.
Nose:
The culinary IPA immediately displayed creamy vanilla notes followed by a blast of freshly picked strawberries. The Mosaic and Citra hops did not stand out too much in the aroma, but we were able to detect subtle tropical, citrus, and grassy notes.
Palate:
The palate is dominated by a tidal wave of smooth vanilla and strawberry notes that complement the creamy mouthfeel. Mosaic and Citra hops expressed themselves more dominantly on the palate than in the aroma. We were able to taste ripe tropical and citrus fruits; however, the fruity flavors transitioned into a dank and piney finish. The lactose produces a hefty amount of sweetness throughout the flavor profile. Culinary IPAs are typically sweet because lactose is unfermentable, but the medium malt body and dry finish balance the sweetness very well.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, the Strawberry Culinary IPA was absolutely delicious, and we believe that Tired Hands Brewing Company brews the most accurate milkshake IPA on the market. Tired Hands Brewing Company is well-known in the United States for crafting delicious and highly desirable culinary IPAs. Therefore, their milkshake IPA releases draw very large crowds. We recommend arriving at Tired Hands very early if you plan on attending a milkshake IPA can release.
